All About Sage and Cleansing

Spring is most definitely here and now is the perfect time to cleanse. Totally different from cleaning, cleansing is to rid any negative energy clearing the way for all those wonderful positive vibes.
We have incredibly high quality Sage Smudge sticks which you simply light and then extinguish to give off a fabulous aroma.

Saging your house is also known as smudging. It’s roots are in Native American cultures and traditions. It is a ritualistic way to cleanse a person, place or an object of negative energies or influences.

The theory behind smudging, is that the smoke attaches itself to negative energy and as it clears it takes the negative energy with it, then Mother Earth reabsorbs the negative energy and filters it herself.
Simply put, sage clears bacteria in the air. Sage smoke offers rapid delivery to the brain and efficient absorption to the body. Scientists have observed that sage can clear up to 94 percent of airborne bacteria in a space and disinfect the air. When sage is burned, it releases negative ions, which is linked to putting people into a positive mood. The Latin word for sage salvia stems form the word heal. Other qualities believed to be associated with sage when burned are giving wisdom, clarity, and increasing spiritual awareness. Before you light up, remember to open a door or window as the unwanted energy you are trying to clear must have a pathway to get out.

Alternatively, you can light a Sage candle and leave it burning for hours, or use the Sage Air Fresh to spray anywhere you wish to cleanse.
A few drops of Sage essential oils in a diffuser creates a beautiful subtle scented mist which can be left on for hours and moved from room to room (or car to car).
And last but not least, there are Sage hand soaps and body washes.
Why cleanse?

If you have had a row with your spouse or children; If a negative/grumpy/mean person comes into your home; If you just moved into your house or apartment. You want to clean out the last families energy; also sage a hotel bed or your bed if you are house guest; if a virus or illness just went through your house. Sage does have anti-bacterial properties to it so its good to do, because usually all illness is a physical manifestation of an issue in your energy field that has been taken care of; if something sad or traumatic happened. Grief is not necessarily a negative energy, but it sometimes lingers longer than is healthy, and sage can help it along.
Happy Cleansing :)

Decoding the Cosmetic Ingredients Jargon

A clever marketing game is played in every skincare and cosmetics aisle in standard and in health stores. Phrases like "Active Ingredients", "Key Ingredients" and "Natural" are emblazoned across labels in bold print to distract us from investigating the small print of what is really in the product.

Autophagy... what is it?
Autophagy... what is it?

Autophagy, meaning “self-eating,” is an intracellular degradation process that allows cells to recycle damaged intracellular components to generate energy and provide building blocks to create new cellular structures.
In simpler terms, it is a process that keeps your body's cells in proper balance by taking old or damaged parts of a cell and recycling them. These recycled bits and bobs are turned into amino acids that can be used for fuel and more.
